Mrs. Willie Mae Warren of Milledgeville, GA, formerly of Sparta, GA, transitioned to her final rest on Sunday, March 31, 2024.  Public Viewing will be on Sunday, April 7, 2024, 2:00PM – 6:00PM, Ingram Brothers Chapel. Graveside Services will be on Monday, April 8, 2024, 11:00AM. Powell Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Sparta, GA  31087.

Willie Mae Smith Warren, also known as “Nukie”, “Nukie Bae”, was the only daughter and last surviving offspring of the union of Henry Smith and Lillie Harden Smith. She was born in Hancock County, GA on February 10, 1935. She attended the public schools of Hancock County. Willie Mae joined Sandy Run AME church at a young age. She remained a dedicated and faithful member until her health declined.

She was employed by the State of Georgia at the Youth Development Center in Milledgeville for over 20 years. Willie Mae had a loving and kind heart with a vast sense of humor. She shared a passion for vegetable and flower gardening. She enjoyed cooking, making quilts, and dancing. She was also known to not be disturbed between 12:30 – 2:00 PM while watching the Young and the Restless and Bold & the Beautiful.

 She was a loving and devoted grandmother to all of her grandchildren with whom she shared a special bond. She also shared a very special bond with her cousin, Mrs. Dorothy Wheeler, and her friend Mrs. Marguerite Harper. She was preceded in death by many special love ones, her mother and father Henry and Lillie Smith, Brothers George, Joe Sid, and Emanual Smith, Husband Willie Lee Warren Sr., Son Willie H. Latimore, daughter Diane Warren, sons Willie Lee Jr. and Stevie Warren. Nieces Lois Wiggs and Lillie Bundrage, Nephew Mr. Willie Lee Smith. Friends Mrs. Thelma Warren and Fannie Mae Primus.

 She leaves to cherish her memories her daughters Carol Mosley, Sheena Lewis, and Catherine Warner. Her son Gregory Lewis (Frieda), loving daughter in-law Patricia Latimore. Nieces Cleona Smith, Jeanie Jarrett, Beverly Dore, and Shirley Simmons. Nephew Joe Smith Jr. (Mary Anne). A devoted Brother in-law Linton Latimore Sr. (Sharon). 22 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and a host of great great grandchildren, cousins and friends.

We the family would like to give a Special Thanks to her Granddaughter Shanta McGee Moore for her unyielding support and love provided throughout her disability. We love you Shanta. A Big Thanks to the staff at Chaplinwood and Affinis Hospice Care. We appreciate each and every one of you. Thank you and God Bless. We would also like to thank her granddaughter Maronda Swiney Parker and cousin Shonda Bundrage for their unwavering support as well.
