Willie Elmer Charleston

Mr. Willie Elmer "Bear" Charleston of Sparta, GA,  transitioned to final rest on Thursday, February 16, 2023.  Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at 11:00A.M., Union Missionary Baptist Church, Sparta. GA  Public Viewing will be from 3:00P.M. - Closing on Tuesday, February 21, 2023.

Life Reflections - Willie Elmer Charleston "Bear" as he was known by his family and friends was called home into eternal rest on February 16, 2023 at Piedmont Hospital in Macon, Georgia. "Bear" was the middle of three children born to the late Levi Pearson and Jessie Bell Charleston. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Frank Charleston "RAM" Gloverville, South Carolina. He was baptized and became a member of Hickory Grove Missionary Baptist Church after confessing Christ in 1978 at Tabernacle Baptist Church.

"Bear" was a fun-loving person who loved to cheer those around him up and a perfectionist in housekeeping and cooking. He was a hard working man, retiring from Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) in 2007, an avid fisherman who loved it for relaxation and sharing his catch with others in the community. His kids and grandkids were the light of his life and anyone who knew him knew it as well.

He leaves to cherish his fond precious memories two sisters: Mary E. Thomas, Gloverville, South Carolina, Jackie Gayles, Buffalo, New York, his loving children: Sanora J. Charleston-Hood, Milledgeville, Georgia, Vincent "Vince" B. (Hannah) Charleston, Warner Robins, Georgia, and Tavoris (Sheila) Lawrence of Alpharetta, Georgia. Six grandchildren, Chelsea Hood, KeAndrea Thomas, Jaedyn Charleston, Jamaal Charleston, Zion Lawrence and Zaria Lawrence. His devoted friends William Jack Osborne, Randy Robbins and a loving host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
