William Henry Smith

Mr. William Henry Smith of Sparta, GA, transitioned to final rest on Monday, June 19, 2023.  Public Viewing will be held on Friday, June 23, 2023, 3:30 P.M.- 7:00 P.M. Ingram Brothers Chapel. The Memorial Celebration will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023, 11:00 A.M. Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, Sparta, GA. 

William Henry Smith was born February 2, 1945 in Sparta, Georgia to the late Johnny Smith, Sr. and Lucy Thomas Smith. Our Heavenly Father called “Pike” home on June 19, 2023.  He was preceded in death by three sisters: Mamie, Grace and Vivian.  Seven brothers: Johnny Frank, Johnny, Jr, Sterling, Otis, Edward, James and Robert.

He enjoyed watching football, listening to music, swing dancing, fishing and church.  He was employed with Providence Healthcare of Sparta, GA.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his four daughters, Shelia Lewis, of Sparta, GA; Bobbie Jean Franklin, Miami, FL; Latasha Williams, Tessay Lewis, of Milledgeville, GA; One son: Paul Lewis, of Valdosta, GA; Twelve grandchildren, Twelve great grandchildren, One sister-in-law, Annie Ruth Smith of Lizella, GA, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and three special friends, Bobby Lee Smith, Jay Dixon, and Charles Davis.  Special family friend, Michael Palmer, Sr.

"Welcome Home" When I am gone, release me, let me go I have so many things to see and do. You mustn’t tie yourself to me with tears. Be happy that we had so many years. I gave to you my love, you can only guess How much you gave to me in happiness. I thank you for the love you each have shown. But now it’s time I traveled on alone. So grieve a while for me, if grieve you must. Then let your grief be comforted by trust. It’s only for a while that we must part So bless the memories within your heart. I won’t be far away, for life goes on. So if you need me, call and I will come, Though you can’t see or touch me, I’ll be near. And if you listen with your heart, you’ll hear All my love around you soft and clear. And then, when you must come this way alone I’ll greet you with a smile, and say “Welcome Home”
