He was a person who kept to himself. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Barnes Johnson.

He leaves to cherish four step children: Jana, Miller, Lanita Edwards, Travis Barnes, Dwayne Barnes, all of Milledgeville, GA, one sister, Sarah F. Edwards of Sparta, GA, one sister-in-law, Carolyn Edwards of Macon, GA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
