The celebration of life for Mr. Marvin Grier will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at 12:30pm, Union Baptist Church, Sparta, Georgia. Public viewing will be held on Wednesday, from 4:00pm until closing at Ingram Brothers Chapel.
On Thursday, December 22, 2022, Marvin Lewis Grier was called home to be with the Lord. Marvin was born on September 9, 1958 to the late General and Ellen B. Grier in Hancock County. He was the oldest of eight children.
Marvin graduated from Hancock Central High School in 1977. After graduation, he worked at the pants factory in Siloam, Georgia, Dade County Department in Miami, Florida, Knows River Construction in Thomson, Georgia, Sparta Healthcare in Sparta, Georgia, Central State in Milledgeville, Georgia, Georgia Pacific in Madison, Georgia, and the Hancock County Board of Education.
On February 9, 1991, Marvin was joined in Holy Matrimony to Mary Wilson and to the union they adopted 6 children and fostered.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, General and Ellen Grier; one brother, Michael Gilmore; two sisters, Linda Grier Webb and Kathleen Grier, and his daughters, Zelda Grier and Brianna Grier.
Marvin leaves to cherish his loving memories; his wife Mary Wilson Grier; three sons, Andrew Grier of Augusta, Georgia, Joseph(Demetria)Grier of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Laquavious Grier of Sparta, Georgia; one daughter, Lottie Grier of Sparta, Georgia, a foster child, Bruce Black; nieces and nephew he raised as his own, Nigeria Fuller, Diamond Russell, Aaliyah Grier, and Lovasea' Carroll; eight grandchildren, Malaki Grier, Elijah Cooper, Cody Porter, Jacob Porter, Joseph Grier, Jr., Laila Shelton, Maria Grier, and Mariah Grier; two brothers, Calvin Grier (Pricilla Arlete Walker) of North Miami Beach - Miami, Florida, and Raymond Grier of Sparta, Georgia; two sisters, Brenda (Curtis) Ivey and Barbara Grier both of Sparta, Georgia; sisters-in-laws, Vickie Grier of Warrenton, Georgia, Julia Mae Jones of Sparta, Georgia, Apostle Cynthia (Johnny) Gordon of Atlanta, Georgia; one aunt, Mary Lott; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
