Joseph Willis

Funeral service for Deacon Joseph Willis will be on Thursday, October 20, 2022 at 1:00pm, at Mt Zion Baptist Church, Sparta, GA.  Public Viewing will be On Wednesday, October 19, 2022, from 3:00pm-6:00pm at the Ingram Brothers Chapel. Joseph "Bro" Willis was born November 9, 1936, to the late Joseph Willis and Mattie Harper Willis in Sparta, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his son, Tommie Willis; two grandchildren, Ricardo Evans and Kinley Grable; two brothers, Marlon Rhodes and James Rhodes; and sister, Ruth Chatman. He was a lifelong resident of Hancock County. He accepted Christ at an early age and was a Deacon at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Joseph Bro Willis was a hard worker and provided the best lawn care in Hancock County. He took pride in his work and always did it with a smile. He was employed by the Brickyard in Milledgeville, Georgia, until it closed. Then he was employed by Edward Lumber Company until it closed, and finally worked at Sparta Manufacturing until his retirement. He continued to cut grass until his health failed. His memories will be cherished by: his wife of 61 years, Effie Lee Willis; children, Rochelle, Charlene, and Darlene; six grandchildren, Yashekia, Termiere, Roshekia, and Tommie Willis, Jr., and Dequante Morris; sister, Mary Walker; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly.
