Doris Ficklin Obituary

Mrs. Doris Bell Ficklin of Warrenton, GA. transitioned to her final rest on Thursday, February 22, 2024.  Public Viewing will be on Thursday, February 29, 2024 from 3:00pm - 6:00pm The Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024, @ 1:00pm, Believer's Church of the Glory (Formerly, Martin Tabernacle), 1286 Smith Rd, Warrenton, GA.  The interment will follow in Thankful Baptist Church Cemetery, Sparta, GA. 295 Thankful Rd, GA Highway 16, (Augusta Highway).

Doris B. Ficklin aka Dot was the fifth sibling of eleven children born into the family of Ennis and Annie Kate Bell.  She was born March 6, 1946 in Warrenton, Georgia.  She attended school at Warrenton Elementary and Warren County High School.  Married the late Asbery Ficklin, Jr. out of their union they were blessed with three children: Cynthia Ficklin of Decatur, GA, Dennis Ficklin (Annette) of Thomson, GA, and Valerie Evering of Covington, GA.  Doris raised her granddaughter, Tashera Ficklin as her own daughter.  She was also blessed with a total of six grandchildren and 12 great-grand children.

Doris was a faithful member of The Believer's Church of the Glory where she served as Vice-President on the user board.  She was also a devoted prayer warrior, always interceding for the church and the community.  She worked mostly as a seamstress in sewing factories.

Doris' transition is preceded by her parents, Ennis and Annie Kate Bell, her sister Ruby Bell Hudgeon, her brothers, Charlie G. Bell, Kenny Bell, and Larry D. Bell.  Cherished memories of Doris are left by those who loved her most and will remain in our hearts forever: siblings are Josie Frances Coates in Brooklyn, NY, Annie Thomas in Snellville, GA, Edison Bell in Philadelphia, PA, Ennis Bell, Jr, in Warrenton, GA, Barbara Hudgeon (Billy) in Decatur, GA, and Jacqueline Johnson (Jersey) in Warrenton, GA.  a mother in-law, Christine Ficklin, five sister in-laws and two brother in-laws.  A host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
